Walt Disney Studios Park

Walt Disney Studios is the second park of Disneyland Resort Paris and opened on March 16, 2002. The inspiration for a studios park came from Florida where MGM Studios is located, which has been renamed Hollywood Studios. In the first instance, the intention was to give the guests a look behind the scenes. However, you now notice that this is no longer the approach during the renovations and additions of new attractions. Walt Disney studios will become a full-fledged park in which the other films/studios that fall under Disney, such as Marvel, Pixar and Lucas film, will have their own place within the park.

The worlds of Walt Disney Studios Park

Walt Disney Studios is the park that is right next to Disneyland Park and currently has 4 themed areas: Frontlot, Toon studio, Production Courtyard and World of Pixar. Walt Disney Studios Park is changing very fast right now. In 2022, for example, the Backlot area will be completely replaced by the new Avengers Campus area. They are also busy preparing the ground behind the park for the construction of the expansion of the park. As announced, new themed parts of the park that revolves around Star Wars and  Frozen will be built there. In addition, an area will also remain free for possible expansions. Also, a large lake will be added where one can admire spectacular shows in the evening that are comparable to those at EPCOT Disney World.

Frontlot

After entering Walt Disney Studios, you will come to a square called Place des Frères lumière. This is also the entrance area and the Frontlot theme area. Through this square you can enter Studio 1 where the architecture of the building reminds you of Hollywood in the 1930s. Just like the rest of Frontlot does. Studio 1 is a recording studio for fictional film. The restaurant and souvenir shop are concealed in the Hollywood studio decor.

Toon studio

In 2007 Animation Courtyard changed its name to Toon Studio. Toon Studio is a themed area consisting of many large buildings that look like large studio halls. At the entrance of Toon Studio, you’ll see a building shaped like apprentice Mickey’s wizard hat. Furthermore, in this area there is the “Flying Carpets over Agrabah”-attraction.

Production Courtyard

If you walk out of the frontlot area, you will immediately end up in the Production Courtyard area. Production Courtyard has the Hollywood Boulevard as the eye-catcher. This eye-catcher allows guests to get a good impression of what a movie set looks like from the back. This area houses studio 2 (theatre), D-studio and Stitch Live. At the end of Hollywood Boulevard is the only attraction, “The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror”.

World of Pixar

World of Pixar was introduced as a new themed area at Walt Disney Studios on August 27, 2021. In this area you will come across all kinds of attractions related to characters and movies from Pixar Animation Studios. Currently in this themed area there are attractions that revolve around Ratatouile, Toy Story, Cars and Finding Nemo

Avengers Campus

Not much concrete can be said about this theme area at the moment, this is because it is currently under construction. What we do know is the following. For the construction of Van Avenger Campus, the Backlot theme area had to make way and the Armagedon attraction was demolished. For this comes a spectacular Spider-man attraction called Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure. In addition, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster attraction will be converted into an Iron Man attraction called Stark’s Test I.A. coaster. Various restaurants, including Pim’s Test Kitchen, referring to the Ant-Man movie. A must see for true Marvel fans.
